Last year (still weird writing that!) I decided to treat myself to some new makeup goodies from Cult Beauty. After a veeerry long time browsing I ordered the Too Faced Gingerbread Spice Palette and the Sweet Smell of Christmas Melted Matte Lipstick set. I know I’m extremely delayed in writing this post, I’ve totally missed the Christmas boat, but it’s definitely still winter and you could make this palette work all year round, I certainly intend to!
The Sweet Smell of Christmas Liquid Lipstick Set
Out of everything makeup I probably care least about lip products and will happily settle for lip balm most days. But if I’m going out I do like a good nude or bright red lip. The lipsticks are a ‘mini’ size and quite a lot smaller than the usual size products you would buy individually. To be honest I prefer this size. I will probably never use up a full size liquid lipstick and its easier to fit in a handbag!
Now, what Too Faced do best…the smell! They all smell different and they’re all SO GOOD. I really love the colour selection and I feel like the nude shades would complement a lot of different skin tones. The red is a really bright shade and a great pop of colour in the set.
They last reasonably well on the lips even if you’re drinking and eating a little. But the one huge negative for me is that after a few hours it feels like your lips are cracking off, they really do dry you’re lips out! It’s such a shame because I really love the colours and how they apply.
Ginbgerbread Spice Eye Shadow Palette
This palette comes in the standard metal rectangular packaging similar to the chocolate bar collection. I really like the packaging and find they’re great for travelling. Also any palette that prints the shade names above the pan WHERE IT’S ACTUALLY HELPFUL gets a thumbs up from me. I’ve had a good amount of time to try the palette out now and it really does not disappoint. I already have a pretty big Too Faced eyeshadow palette selection and I’m a big fan of the formula of the shadow anyway, if you haven’t read it check my Too Faced Palette Collection post here!
This is a lovely autumn winter palette with those orange and pinky shades that are a classic choice for this time of year (obviously the name hints at this too!) The range of colours lets you create a super simple natural look as well as going all out with some bright and fun looks.
For me the absolute stand out shades are Hot Toddy, Spice is Nice, Figgy Pudding and Warm and Toasty.
Best base: Set your concealer/ eye primer with Powdered Sugar all over your lid.
Best transition: Gently blend Gingerbread Latte into the crease for the base to numerous eye shadow looks.
Best Pop: Use your finger to pat Hot Toddy on the lid for a great pop of colour.
Overall a really great colourful palette, which enables you to create lovely everyday natural looks too. Check out my Instagram for some of my looks using this palette!
